From the quiet corners of Quezon Province, a new force has begun to surface — heavy, honest, and born from real wounds. A band whose name came from an accident, yet carried a destiny of its own. A sound shaped by pain, bonded by brotherhood, and sharpened by the will to rise again.
This is ZiD.
As they say:
“Tatlong letra. Isang pader. Isang panangga sa lahat ng sakit na iniwan ng kahapon.”
Three letters. One wall. A shield against all the pain yesterday left behind.
Birth of a Name, Birth of a Band
ZiD was formed in 2024, in the aftermath of their former band Maldito falling silent. When their drummer and vocalist could no longer join, the remaining members — Marlon, Amerson, and Misael — decided the story wasn’t over. Something had to continue.
The name came from a simple typo.
While creating a group chat, Marlon meant to type “Sid,” the nickname of their band leader. Instead, he typed “ZiD.”
What began as a mistake transformed into a symbol.
“Ang ZiD ay hindi lang pangalan — ito’y alaala ng mga sugat na ginawang kanta, at mga luha na ginawang liriko.”
ZiD is not just a name — it is a reminder of wounds turned into songs, and tears turned into lyrics.
A Meaning Carved from Reality
To the band, ZiD became a declaration — a form of armor, but also a mirror.
Every song is a confrontation with what hurt them. Every performance is a release.
“Sa bawat nota, may galit. Sa bawat liriko, may dahilan. Sa bawat gig, may kalayaan.”
In every note, there is anger. In every lyric, a reason. In every gig, freedom.
They repeat one idea often:
They aren’t perfect.
But they are real.
The Members Behind the Wall
With the return of their former guitarist-turned-drummer Duvan, the band finally found its full strength again. ZiD stands on four pillars:
-
Marlon Basco — Lead Guitar
-
Misael John — Bass & Vocals
-
Duvan — Drums
-
Amerson Marquez Cuaro — Guitar & Vocals
Each member carries emotional weight into the music:
Marlon crafts the riffs that build the backbone of their sound.
Misael glues the rhythm together, syncing bass and drums into one heartbeat.
Duvan plays with a mix of technique and raw emotion — the kind only someone who lived the same stories can deliver.
Amerson, the writer and the voice, shapes the lyrics and the soul of their tracks.
Their chemistry is not manufactured — it’s lived.

A Sound Defined by Balance
ZiD operates in the realm of Rock / Indie / Rap, where heavy riffs coexist with space and emotion. Their music doesn’t drown the message — it sharpens it.
“Ang tunog ng ZiD ay may timpi sa pagitan ng bigat at linaw.”
The sound of ZiD sits between heaviness and clarity.
There is intensity, but also honesty.
There is aggression, but also truth.
Their themes often revolve around pain, healing, and survival — a sonic release for people who battle quietly.
Influences that Molded Their Character
ZiD’s sound draws from Slapshock, Deftones, and Urbandub — bands that shaped not only their style but their emotional direction.
From Slapshock, they learned discipline and raw power.
From Deftones, emotional layering and atmosphere.
From Urbandub, melodic storytelling with sincerity.
These influences helped them build a sound that is heavy but meaningful, chaotic but cathartic — a reflection of their own lives.
Writing from Real Wounds
Their writing process is rooted in truth.
“Sa tunay na kwento ng buhay… doon nanggagaling ang bawat damdamin ng aming musika.”
From the real stories of life — that’s where every emotion in our music comes from.
Most songs begin with a verse written by Amerson, and from there, the rest of the band adds their layers. The process starts messy, emotional, then slowly forms structure — much like healing itself.
For ZiD, music is both confession and cure.
“Bangungot”: A Song Made from Pain
Among their compositions, one stands above the rest — “Bangungot.”
Inspired by a friend’s dark experience, the song dives deep into fear, loss, and the slow climb back to light.
It’s not just a track.
It’s a story many carry silently.
A Night to Remember: Lopez Quezon Emo Nights 2
One of ZiD’s most memorable performances happened at Lopez Quezon Emo Nights 2.
The crowd felt every scream, every line, every tremble of the guitar — a shared catharsis between the band and the people who resonated with their story.
“Andaming naka-appreciate sa aming likhang awit.”
So many connected with the songs we created.
They will return again for Emo Nights 3, ready to break open the same emotions once more.
Challenges, Losses, and the Will to Continue
When drummer Duvan had to take a break, the band felt incomplete — even “broken,” as they described it.
They had sessionists, but it wasn’t the same.
There were nights when Amerson performed solo, supported only by backtracks, just to keep their gigs alive.
But when Duvan finally returned, everything fell into place again.
“Walang makakapalit sa’yo. Ikaw lang yan, Duvan.”
No one can replace you. Only you.
Their Biggest Achievement So Far
For ZiD, success is not measured in trophies or follower counts.
Their greatest achievement was the moment they chose to take their music seriously — growing from kids jamming for fun into musicians with purpose, message, and direction.
New Projects and What’s Next
Their latest release explores love and faith — a question of choice and devotion.
They’re currently working on their third song, about real love without conditions:
“Walang pirmahan o kundisyon.”
No signatures. No terms.
Just truth.
Dream Collaborations
Locally, they wish to collaborate with Kuya JR of Rugis.
Nationally, with Gab of Urbandub — a band that molded much of their identity.
A Band Close to Their Community
ZiD connects with fans beyond performances.
They stay until the end of every event — never leaving early, out of respect for fellow artists and for the new friends they meet.
One fan message struck them deeply:
“Ang galing ng pagsulat mo sa Bangungot… sobrang natamaan ako.”
Your writing in Bangungot is incredible… it hit me deeply.
Message to Their Listeners
“Stay tuned — we’re just getting started.”
Where They See Themselves in 5 Years
On a bigger stage.
Sharing space with their idols.
Carrying the sound of Quezon to places far beyond home.
If Not Music…
They’d be busy with life, work, and survival — like everyone else.
But fate placed music in their hands.
And they answered.
